We are very pleased to share that our Director of Nursing, Professor Fiona Nolan, has recently been made a fellow of the Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI). Congratulations, Fiona!
The QNI fellowship is a highly prestigious award which recognises leaders within their spheres of expertise — usually primary or community care. There are 97 nurses who have received the award since its founding in 2000; only a handful of the 97 are mental health nurses.
The award ceremony took place on Friday 29 November, where Fiona received her award from Dame Elizabeth Anionwu (pictured above). Five other nurses were also made fellows at the same ceremony.
NLFT is the only mental health provider in the country to employ two QNI fellows — Fiona, and Helen Mehra, Deputy Director of Nursing.
On receiving her award, Fiona said:
"I am extremely honoured to have received this fellowship. It’s very humbling to be amongst this distinguished group of QNI fellows, all of whom have achieved so much for the nursing profession and made huge contributions to society.
"I hope to prove worthy of the award, and to strengthen links between the QNI and NLFT over the coming years to benefit our nursing workforce, our colleagues and those in our care."
