In September, a group of mental health nurses from the Netherlands visited St Pancras Hospital, Highgate and the Peckwater Centre to learn about how our services help patients achieve and maintain mental health recovery.
The Dutch nurses work at the Noord-Holland region's mental health provider and spent their visit to London being shown around our services by Fiona Nolan, Helen Mehra, Anthony Jemmott, Denisha Palmer and Cerdic Hall.
The feedback from our overseas visitors was that they learned a lot, especially about social prescribing, which was a new concept for them. They expressed their desire to take that idea and apply it in their own services. They also thought our Listening Garden was "beautiful".
Annemiek Schäfer, one of the nurse practitioners on the visit, said:
"The Place of Safety and Mental Health Crisis Assessment Centre at Highgate has given us ideas for organising our crisis service, led by nurses!
"Thank you for the warm welcome and lovely conversations."
Well done to our Partnership colleagues involved in organising the visit — they now have an open invitation to the Netherlands to see how the services work there!
