Fionn Wilson, an artist and curator, and expert by experience, has worked with Enfield's Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service to put artwork on the walls of their space in Lucas House, Edmonton.
What the project involved
Fionn has experienced first-hand the significant role art plays in aiding recovery. This led her to want to bring humanity, connection and recovery to others going through their own mental health journeys.
Fionn secured a grant from the Responsa Foundation and collaborated with them on a project that brings art into mental health care. This involved working with international artists, who created 10 bespoke art pieces related to mental health, recovery and hope. These artists produced these specifically for the walls of Lucas House.
What the artwork represents for Lucas House
Psychology professionals from the Enfield EIP Team helped organise the artwork for their building and say that the works on display bring hope, happiness, curiosity, distraction and relaxation for patients and staff alike.
Fionn has previously donated two pieces of her own artwork to Lucas House, to give thanks for the help the Enfield EIP Team gave her as a patient.
Dr Jaimini Mehta (Senior Clinical Psychologist) and Pavlina Spata (Assistant Psychologist) worked closely with Fionn and Responsa Foundation on this project. They commented:
“We are incredibly grateful to Fionn and the Responsa Foundation for keeping this project high on the agenda and our thanks go to the artists who have contributed greatly to dismantling mental health stigma and creating talking points here at Lucas House. It’s really heart-warming to see people stop and take a moment out of their day to observe the artwork and connect with each other”.
Jaimini and Pavlina would also like to thank Enfield senior managers, Juliet Osuji (Enfield EIP Manager), Emma Canton (Admin Manager) and Javier (Estates) for their support with this project. And a big thank you to Fionn for all her hard work and commitment, and to the Responsa Foundation for funding this project and helping bring it to life.
