January can be a difficult time for many of us. The excitement of the holidays has passed, days are still short and dark, and financial worries may be mounting. It’s no wonder that the third Monday of January is often called Blue Monday.
But it’s important to remember that feeling low isn’t limited to just one day or one month. Mental health challenges can arise at any time, and you don’t have to face them alone. North London NHS Talking Therapies is here to help, offering free, confidential support for anxiety, depression, and other common mental health concerns.
What Are NHS Talking Therapies?
NHS Talking Therapies provide effective treatments to support mental health and well-being. These therapies are delivered by trained clinicians and are tailored to meet individual needs.
They include:
• One-on-one support: Sessions with a clinician either in person, over the phone, or online.
• Group sessions: Opportunities to share and learn alongside others experiencing similar challenges.
• Self-help tools: Guided programs to help you manage your mental health at your own pace.
The service is free and available to anyone aged 18 and over who is registered with a GP in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, or Islington.
Why Seek Help Early?
Many people delay seeking support for mental health issues, often because of stigma, uncertainty about where to turn, or simply not recognizing when they need help. But reaching out early can make a big difference. Early intervention can prevent problems from becoming more serious and improve your overall quality of life.
Judy Leibowitz and Anupama Rammohan Heads of North London NHS Talking Therapies said:
“January can be particularly tough, but feeling low or anxious can happen at any time of the year. If you’re struggling, it’s important to know that help is available. Talking Therapies offer a safe space to work through your feelings, develop coping strategies, and take steps toward feeling better. You don’t have to do this alone.”
