North London Forensic Collaborative declared NHS Parliamentary Award winner!

Our North London Forensic Collaborative (NLFC) Commissioning Hub Team beat off strong competition to be presented with the Excellence in Mental Health Care Award at the 2024 NHS Parliamentary Awards, which took place this week in Westminster.

The award celebrates the outstanding contribution of staff working in the health and care sector and the team was nominated by Chipping Barnet MP, Dan Tomlinson.

NLFC provides adult secure care for people with varying mental health disorders, including learning disability and autism, across our boroughs. Many of the inpatients come via the criminal justice system to be placed in secure forensic hospitals and then cared for in the community. The NLFC Commissioning Hub Team leads the Collaborative and supports providers ensuring that care and treatment is of the highest quality.

The team was singled out by the judges for the work it does in partnership with people who use forensic services, their family, friends and carers. Their views and needs shape the way the Collaborative plan, deliver and review services ensuring they improve the experience, quality and bring care closer to home.

Mark Landy, Managing Director of North London Forensic Collaborative said: “This award reflects the years of work across all the providers within the Collaborative to make this partnership a success. This is especially true of the involvement of all the staff, patients and service users whose participation in every aspect of the commissioning and delivery has led to us achieving this award.”

NHS Chief Executive, Amanda Pritchard, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, were among those joining MPs and NHS staff to pay tribute to all the winners.

Jinjer Kandola, our Chief Executive,  said: “I’m incredibly proud of their work and the way they have led Collaborative working across North London to improve support for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. As we prepare to become the new North London NHS Foundation Trust, this is one of the best examples of the outstanding care we aim to deliver across all our services.”
