Nubian User Forum
The Nubian Users’ Forum (NUF) is an independent group within Camden and Islington for African and African/Caribbean people, who use or have used mental health and substance misuse services.
NUF works to combat the social stigmas associated with mental health and raises awareness of the isolation, racism, discrimination and over-medication experienced by those within this group.
Service users’ participation and visibility is paramount to the success of the forum. The group meets once every three weeks to express their needs and discuss alternative ways in which to improve their lives and the services available to them and their peers.
NUF Meetings
Topics for discussion vary from personal mental health journeys, hospital admissions, training opportunities, over-medication and their side effects, coping with changes to mental health services and benefits.
Meetings are held every three weeks on a Wednesday afternoon from 1-3.30pm Meetings culminate with the shared cultural ritual of breaking bread together as we offer members a full, hot African-Caribbean Meal. For venue details of meetings please call Clover Crumbie on 07939 328 748
